I skimmed the last quarter, hoping it might get better. It didn't. The heroine is annoying, and the big conflict (that the hero might not be able to accept a woman with money) was completely out of the blue. The book was insulting to adoptive families, patronizing to mentally challenged people, and, worst of all, boring. I liked the first few chapters, but after that, it just kept getting worse and worse. Oh well. Back to the Romance-hunting drawing board.retard ranch!!this is the best romance novel i have ever read. which really only means it is better than this.(now that i have learned how to do that, i am going to link to every part of the internet, given time...) and sarah palin will probably hate this review. but the fact of the matter is, i love the word "retard". i think it is a funny-sounding word, along with "renal", "swizzle" and "filbert". but i don't want any angry facebook letters (because i am not even on facebook, so it will do you
Wonderful characters, vivid scenes, and a good story. I would have given it 5 stars, but I felt the special needs folks in the story were a little too ideally portrayed.
I love Deborah Smith. Her stories are heart-warming and mystery all at the same time. After the death of her parents an heiress learns she is adopted and goes in search of her birth parents. She had been told they were mentally challenged but she is looking for the answer to the age old question why did my parents give me up. Looking for her parents she winds up on a ranch where they are supposed to live and work which is run by Ben Thocco who has a brother with Downs Syndrome who has been
I found this book through a very dubious connection, I needed a book with "G" for the title in a challenge and "G" was proving to be a very hard letter to find, so I randomly started to type words that began with "G" that would fit and found this book. Then when I started to read this book I didn't expect to really like it, just plow through it to reach my goal, so imagine my surprise when 50 pages in I really liked it and it just got better and better as the book went.Kara, born into the super
Delightful read; I was thoroughly entertained throughout the book. It was fun to read many clever words and wonderful thoughts and themes. This was my first book by Deborah Smith; I'm looking forward to reading her other works.
4.5 stars. Although a bit unbelievable at times, this was a truly beautiful love story. Not just a love story of a man and a woman, but of family and friends. You can't help but cheer for all of the characters, even the animals! Highly recommend!
